Getting Started with Codeset Editor

In this tutorial, you create a simple codeset mapping in iDev Studio. This tutorial is intended to introduce you to codesets, primarily how to create a codeset, and to manually or automatically link source reference to target reference data.

Step 1: Create Codeset

Start iDev Studio and create a new Codeset Mapping by selecting Create Codeset in the START menu.

This creates a new codeset in the main window.

Step 2: Open Source Reference

Add source reference data by selecting Add Reference in the Codeset Editor menu.

This opens the Add Reference dialog and shows all reference objects in your workspace(s). Browse the list of reference objects. Select reference object you want to include in the code mapping.

Select Add Reference As: Source and click button Add Reference. Click button Close to close the dialog.

The reference data is loaded as Source in Main window.

Step 3: Open Target Reference

Add target reference data by selecting Add Reference in the Codeset Editor menu.

This opens the Add Reference dialog and shows all reference objects in your workspace(s). Browse the list of reference objects. Select reference object you want to include in the code mapping.

Select Add Reference As: Target and click button Add Reference. Click button Close to close the dialog.

The reference data is loaded as Target in Main window.

Step 4: Link Codeset

Select reference data from the Source and Target window. Select Link Codeset in the Codeset Editor menu.

This links the selected Source and Target reference data and adds them in the Codeset Mapping window.

Tip: The amount of reference data records can sometimes be very high. Use incremental search in order to limit source or target reference data.

Step 5: Auto-Link Codeset

Automatically link matching Source and Target reference data terms by selecting Auto-Link Codeset in the Codeset Editor menu.

This links all matching Source and Target reference data and adds them in the Codeset Mapping window.
