Data Mapping Features
Data mapping serves as the initial step in data integration. Data mapping is a process used in data integration by which different data models are linked to each other using a defined set of methods to characterize the data in a specific definition.
A data mapping specification is a special type of data dictionary that shows how data from one information system maps to data from another information system. Creating a data mapping specification helps to avoid numerous potential issues, the kind that tend to surface late in development or during user acceptance testing and throw off deadlines, not to mention irritating your stakeholders.
Visual Data Mapping Technology
Visual Data Mapping Technology shows metadata and linking information to give you unprecedented data mapping capabilities. Dimensional, Relational or Data Vault Modeling – any integration scenario can be visualized and mapped. Column Auto-Linking automatically connects ports between identical source and target columns.
Drag and Drop data objects from the metadata explorer or add Multiple Data Objects at once. It’s your choice. Unicode Support ensures that anyone in the world can analyze and link metadata in data mappings.
Dependency Analyzer
Dependency Analyzer performs data lineage analysis in real-time and displays bi-directional foreign key relationships.
Selecting the Dependency Analyzer icon beside the metadata object shows all relationships and allows to easily add a referencing object to the data mapping with 1-click.
Data Catalog
The new Data Catalog provides a revolutionary new way to create comprehensive specifications.
Specifications are automatically generated. This eliminates the “grid-based” population of cells and prevents countless errors and misunderstandings.
You can customize the column order, build a hierarchy by grouping and sorting columns, merge cells for better readability or freeze a column to navigate easier. Need to have the data catalog in Excel? No problem, all customizations will be exported, too.
There will be no discussions anymore about the layout of the specification since each user can design his own data catalog – without affecting the underlying data.
Changing the layout of the data catalog is simply a drag and drop operation from a range of over 40 fields.
In case the specification is more detailed than expected then a search field helps to quickly find what you are looking for.
Expression Editor
The new Expression Editor has been redesigned to enable you to manage all business rules in one central place.
The built-in editor with syntax highlighting and source column reference allow you to transform business context into powerful transformation rules.
SQL Editor
SQL Editor with integrated syntax highlighting facilitates knowledge exchange of business analysis or source extraction queries.
